If Murphy’s Law is true, and whatever can go wrong will go wrong, then we Mac users are just waiting around for disaster to happen.
If only the paranoid survive, and if everyone is out to get you, then paranoia is the right attitude to have, no? Alright, if you want more security to protect all those incriminating files and photos on your Mac you need to look at this app.
Protect Mac Files
Mac users have plenty of options to secure our most important files– photos, documents, email, browsing history– you name it, there’s something incriminating in there.
MacFort is a very useful Mac app that makes encryption and password protection easier to implement than any Mac app I’ve ever used.
First, MacFort scans files and folders and apps on your Mac, and pops up a list of apps and their respective files which can be encrypted and password protected.
Second, select the apps and files you want to protect, and MacFort begins the encryption process. MacFort creates an encrypted vault and stores those files and folders you chose to safeguard.
Third, well, there is no third. MacFort automatically locks the app’s files. Open MacFort, find the app you want to use to open the files, and double-click to enter the password.
No password, no files.
The key to using MacFort is knowing what you want to encrypt and protect and what you don’t. MacFort lists the apps, and files associated with that app just won’t open.
Even individual files and folders are easily locked up tight in MacFort.
MacFort doesn’t really care where you store the vault files. On the Mac or on an external disk or elsewhere. With your files stored in MacFort’s vaults, they’re about as secure as you can get in this age of cyberterrorism. Options let you choose the vault size, and either 256-bit AES or 128-bit AES encryption.
MacFort also gives you the option to create multiple vaults to store all kinds of files. At that point, files, folders, documents, photos, movies, or anything else you’d rather keep private and away from prying eyes are encrypted and hidden from view. This is a decent way to secure just what you want so you can sleep better at night.
