The latest to catch my eye is the update to PhotoArtista – Oil. It’s what you think it is. Change a boring photo to an oil painting with a click. Here’s how.
Digital Oil Paintings
Wait. Everyone using a Mac already knows how to click. Here’s what to use to click to change a digital photo into a digital oil painting.
The app is PhotoArtista – Oil and it’s drop dead simple to turn any ordinary photo into what looks remarkably like a very good oil painting– but without the oil.
Click to select a Style and your photo is instantly transformed into one of many oil painting styles.
Click the Adjust button, and you get full on granular controls over brush size, bristle depth, canvas, stroke variation, tone, color, and much more.
Here’s a quick look at what PhotoArtista does (and, yes, there’s an iPhone version, too; plus two others, one for haiku and one for sketching).
What could be simpler to use?
Drop in a photo. Select an oil painting style (choose from Expressionism, Impressionism, Tone, and other preset styles). Modify edges, lighting, customize presets and reuse as needed.
You get digital oil paintings like this with a click.
It’s absolutely drop dead easy to take an ordinary photo of nominal consequence and turn it into an artistic oil painting without using paint or brushes or making a mess or even taking painting lessons.
The end result is a digital photo that looks like an oil painting. It’s fun. It’s easy. It’s not even expensive.
