Not every video is worth downloading to keep on your Mac, but if you want a collection of great videos, how-to videos, music videos, then you need an app that can handle the downloads and file conversions. Here’s one that’s free.
Click. Download. Save.
The fact is this– you’ll spend more time trying to find videos worth saving from YouTube than you will downloading and saving videos to your Mac.
All you need is iTubeDownloader, a free Mac app which lets you search for videos, find and view videos, and download videos to your collection.
The latest version also downloads and stores HD videos (of the 1080p variety). Select the quality video you want, and iTubeDownloader downloads that version (if available, of course).
The Dock icon displays how much of the download has been accomplished so you can turn your attention to something else while videos are being downloaded to your Mac.
There’s not much to the interface, either. Simply enter the URL of the YouTube video, or enter YouTube’s URL and browse through video categories.
Once you find a video you want to download, click the download options button for the available resolution, and iTubeDownloader does the rest.
The app is available in multiple languages (English, Japanese, Italian, German, and French) and integrates with Notification Center so you’ll know when a download is complete.
Legalities of downloading videos aside, there’s not much to learn. iTubeDownloader is published by the same Mac app developer who does the free iCloudDisk app.
