We have way too much stuff.
Clutter seems to be the order of the day these days. We buy and attempt to use new belongings but do not have a routine to prune our current belongings. In fact, we usually don’t even know how much stuff we already have before we buy new stuff.
Organizing Personal Stuff
If that sounds too much like a part of your life, check out InerziaThings. It’s a personal database for our stuff.
It doesn’t manage or track your money. It’s just a cool, useful database that stores all the details about our stuff.
What kind of details? The kind you can never remember but know you’ll need one day.
InerziaThings stores product information; date purchased, warranty information, serial numbers, support telephone numbers, where you bought it (and, a place for notes so you can even write down why you bought it).
The ToolBar makes it easy to use, too. Click AddThing to add an item, with all the details, or when something is thrown out, click DeleteThing.
InerziaThing can even handle multiple places. Home, Home Office, Summer Home, Garage. Or, track items by Room in your home, or by Cubicle in the office.
Add tags to items so you can categorize each one (makes it easier to find in a search). This kind of personal database is a good way to keep track of items for insurance purposes, too. You can even setup items to know when the warranty will expire. What’s needed for that kind of feature is Calendar integration so you can receive a notice whenever a warranty or service period is due to end.
