Here’s one I’ve had a few years; use regularly, and while other Mac apps can do similar things to photographs, none do them as fast, as easily, or with such good results. Think 3D perspective, one-click reflections, curves, shadows, glows, and strokes.
Click. Click. Done.
Work circumstances require that Adobe’s enormously expensive and complex Photoshop grace my Mac, and it’s hard to argue with the capabilities it brings to the screen.
However, complexity being what it is, I often look for easier, faster ways to get something accomplished. Picturesque is a perfect example.
There’s no faster or easier way to prepare classy looking photos for websites than Picturesque.
Websites? Yes. Picturesque can create great photos to be printed and shared, but it excels in creating attractive enhancements for photos on the web.
What Picturesque doesn’t do is all the tedious photo refinements. Instead, the focus is on tweaks that take an already good photo and make it more attractive.
The bottom-based Toolbar is straightforward and quick to master. Click Perspective to create a 3D-like effect to the photo. Add Reflection with a click.
Photos can be cropped and tweaked a bit but nothing is easier to add curves to corners (and adjust the radius of each (all four, one, two or three), and change the Stroke of the border in width and color.
Picturesque also lets you keep favorite styles and tweaks as presets so they’re applied to a photo even faster next time. You’ll also appreciate one more feature. Batch edits can be applied to many photos in a folder and it even makes thumbnails. The app comes from the same Mac developers who publish the great Soulver calculator.
