Who doesn’t like ‘free‘ movies? If you’re in to peer-to-peer file sharing– BitTorrent— then you know the value of ‘sharing‘ movie files online.
One man’s sharing method is another man’s intellectual property theft, but there’s a new kid in town and it promises to make it easier to watch streaming movies online, sans Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV. It’s called Popcorn Time.
Sharing? Or, Thievery?
I promise not to be judgmental about peer-to-peer file sharing because the technology has many legitimate uses. Like guns. Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.
Likewise, peer-to-peer file sharing isn’t thievery unless it’s used by thieves. That’s about it on that subject.
Otherwise, if you share files online, love to download movies from distant sites, but hate the wait, Popcorn Time is for you.
This useful Mac app is somewhat akin to Apple TV for the Mac. You’ll get a list of popular movies, many recent, some classic, and all it takes to begin viewing your movie selection is a fast internet connection, your Mac, and a click or two.
The user interface couldn’t be much simpler, as Popcorn Time removes the cluttered interface and cumbersome steps to find and download movies the old fashioned way.
And, well, that’s a wrap. Download PopcornTime, install it on your Mac, find a movie you like, select it and begin watching.
The app even comes with a built-in VPN (virtual private network) function so you can use Popcorn Time somewhat anonymously.
