Apple just doesn’t give users the proper search tools. What if you’d like to know which apps are tops in different countries, on Mac, iPhone and iPad? And, what if you’d like to search apps in each country by category to find out what’s hot? As it turns out, there’s not an app for that.
Web Apps Rule (not!)
Search tools (or, lack of) aside, APPlyzer is a website which displays app store statistics from all over the world. It’s free and easy to use and the list of apps displayed is much longer than in the various Apple app stores. You’ll need to register to get started.
Simply select the App Type– iPhone, iPad, or Mac– then select a country from the pulldown list. finally choose an app category (also a pull down list).
What you’ll see is a ranking of Paid apps, Free apps, and Top Grossing apps in each app store.
Arrows in front of each app name show ranking trends; up, the same, down– since the last data was gathered.
The free registration to APPlyzer will display the top 1,000 apps from each store and each category. Click on an app name and the resulting list displays how the app is ranked in various countries.
Here’s what it looks like (click for a larger image).
Remember, APPlyzer is a web app, visible and usable only in a web browser. APPlyzer is useful for app developers, of course, but also interesting for Mac, iPhone, and iPad users who want to know which apps are popular in other countries, and who prefer a much larger list of apps to view.
