What? No email? What? No website, or text message, or… you get the idea, right? What we need is something to alert us when the internet decides to go away for awhile. I don’t know if there’s an iPhone or iPad app that does what Online does for the Mac, but free is good.
Online is a free utility which resides in the Mac’s Menubar and simply pays attention to your Mac’s internet connection. Good so far, right?
If there’s a connection that Online can detect, the status indicator light turns green. If the connection goes away and Online can’t detect it, the status indicator light turns red.
That’s about as good as it gets. Green, good. Red, not good. But there’s more.
Online also does Notification Center alerts and starts when there’s no internet connection. You get a pop up notifier when the connection goes down, and another when it comes back again.
In other words, it just works, whether your Mac is connected or not.
Sweet. And Online is free. I want one for my iPhone and iPad, too.
