Somehow Apple’s iPad became the culprit instead of the problems plaguing a custom developed app that American’s pilots use. You see this kind of misleading news story everywhere these days, and they all have one thing in common– Apple looks bad. Dig a little deeper and the truth can be found.
Scratch And Sniff
Another headline this week said Samsung re-took the lead in smartphone sales over Apple’s iPhone. Except that, no, there are no fact in evidence to support that. Why not? Because Apple is the only major smartphone maker which discloses sales numbers.
Samsung’s track record of playing with the truth is well know. Yet another research company took a laxative and gathered up some numerical results which painted Apple in a bad light. Again.
Watergate brought down Richard Nixon’s presidency way back in the day, but Antennagate, Mapsgate, Bendgate, and every other scandal du jour has failed to do much to dampen Apple’s shine.
Just a year or two ago there were public outcries for CEO Tim Cook’s head to be delivered on a platter. It’s probably a good thing that nobody pays much attention to the nattering nabobs of negativity in Cupertino, although Apple haters should consider getting some much needed psychiatric therapy.
You’ve likely read about the doom and gloom predicted for Apple Watch. Ignore it. Watch will be a very big deal by the end next year’s holiday shopping season. Wait. The iPad is failing, right? That’s a black mark against Apple’s lovely track record, right?
iPad total unit sales are down, and probably for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is that the device is just so damned good that finding a reason to upgrade to a newer model is a bona fide challenge. Again, Apple is the only major tablet maker which publishes actual quarterly sales data, but there’s not one other tablet maker who wouldn’t trade their tablet business for Apple’s.
How bad is it for Apple? The company just reported another record quarter of sales revenue, profits, and unit sales. Meanwhile, Samsung– the only other smartphone and tablet maker that competes with Apple– just reported another 30-percent decline in profits. Everybody else is worse.
Still, haters gonna hate, and bashers gonna bash. I’m just growing increasingly tired of all the negative noise being generated by the doomsayers who don’t understand the difference between fact and fiction.
