If anything, the Mac is about convenience and what better way to bring Outlook to a Mac from within the Menubar. That’s what Mail + for Outlook does. Is. It’s an elegant, handy, useful way to get to Outlook email without having to open or switch to Microsoft’s Office Outlook app.
Outlook Comes Inside
Before I dig into the benefits of Mail + for Outlook let me point out something of a notable trend among software developers. Microsoft is back. Not only does Windows 10 get good early reviews, Microsoft Office for Mac is getting better reviews.
A little competition is good for the app user’s soul, so maybe Apple and Microsoft should wise up and recognize that some access to apps from within the Menubar is a good thing. That’s what Mail + for Outlook does. Outlook email in the Menubar, so you can get it from within almost any running Mac app.
Click the Menubar and your Outlook account pops down so you can check email, Hotmail, Microsoft Live mail, all with a click. It’s not just check, either. Click to reply, too.
Mail + for Outlook also has a full on Desktop mode with Skype Chat built in. If you’ve gone whole hog on Microsoft’s new cloud storage services, Office 365 or OneDrive, Mail + for Outlook lets you save email attachments, files, and images to your OneDrive account. Even contacts are built-in, which makes this app more of a mini-Outlook which is easier and faster to use.
That brings up and interesting point about usability. My Mac’s Desktop is cluttered with files and folders. The Dock is cluttered with far too many apps and folders. And the Mac’s Menubar is cluttered with utilities that make using apps or the Mac much easier and more convenient.
