There are times when I come across a Mac app that is useful, priced about right, worthy enough to add to my Mac, but missing one thing.
Travel PackList is such a Mac app. As the name says, Mac users can create a pack list before taking a trip, add travel packing items, and print out the list to check off items as they are packed. That’s really handy, right? But it’s missing one thing.
Pack Me Baby, One More Time
Packing lists seem to come in two versions. One that you make up yourself based upon experience and needs particular to you. And one that comes as a pre-determined list which helps to remind you what to pack.
Travel PackList falls into the latter with a long list of items you may need when you travel. In other words, it’s easier to not mark or take an item on a list that does not apply to you, than it is to forget an item you should have packed but did not.
The advantages to using Travel PackList are enormous and can extend not just to a trip, but to multiple trips, each with different tracking requirements. The lists can be modified as needed, creating a template for future trips that have packing items more acclimated to your travel style.
Create the packing list, print out the packing list, then check off the packing list items as you pack your luggage. Right now we’re packing for a trip, and packing up items in the house so painters can do their deeds while we’re traveling, so we’re using Travel PackList to create a list of items we packed for storage. It works perfectly.
But there’s one problem.
Travel PackList is one of those Mac apps that scream iOS version for iPhone or iPad. What a great addition that would be. For now, it’s priced right at a few dollars, but a companion iOS version would be a huge plus.
