How many ways can you get a business card? The answers are many and varied and can be time consuming and expensive. What if you need a business card right now? Actually, that’s easy, fast, and less expensive.
All you need are the basics. A Mac app that does customized business cards. Information to put on the business card. A printer, and the paper to print a business and that you can find at almost any office supply store. Of all the business card making apps, here’s the one for the budget-minded Mac user.
The Rockford Sidekick
Long before the Mac, way back when I used to watch James Garner in The Rockford Files TV series, as a private eye it seemed that Garner… or, Rockford… had a different business card every week.
That was before the Mac was even invented so you know how much trouble it was for him to get customized business cards so frequently (yes, I know it was television). If you’re a Mac user on a budget here’s the easy, fast, and cheap way to as many custom business cards as you can print.
The app is called BizCards Sidekick, and it’s probably the least feature-laden of all the Mac business card apps. That’s OK. It has just the right number of features to create a business card on the fly, instantly.
It’s simple. Select a card from the templates, change the company name, address, and other pertinent information to what you want, save, then print.
BizCards Sidekick uses drag and drop to create a full customized business card from one of the many templates that come with the app. It has options for photos, shapes, lines, grids, and everything else you need for a basic business card.
Start blank or use a built-in template. Layout is fully free form so you can move shapes, objects, photos, or text wherever they’ll fit on the business card layout, which supports both US and international A4 business card stock.
Use BizCards Sidekick to print a single card, Rockford style, or a full sheet of 10 business cards at a time, even using multiple colors. The app also lets you print different designed cards to a single card sheet. Rockford would have loved that. From what I can see you can print most of the standard Avery business card print stock which are easily found online or in most office supply stores.
BizCards Sidekick also uses the Mac’s Contacts app to pull your personal information into the layout automatically. It’s not packed with the most features, but it’s nicely done, easy to setup and use, and very affordable.
