The iPhone has many thousands of photo enhancements apps, including the filters Apple adds to the camera app, but if there’s a photo style you can think of, there’s likely a photo app for that. Here’s as close to a Friday Freebie as I could get this week. 99-cents.
Film And Lomography
Camera Effect is a very inexpensive Mac photo utility which has simple presets for two kinds of photos. One is the standard film look which brings back the colorful and artistic style of photos derived from film.
The other option is LOMO, or lomography, another artistic style of photography more akin to ‘Don’t think, just shoot.’ Think fisheye on a photo not take with a fisheye lens. CameraEffect on the Mac does both. Here’s a quick look at the LOMO effect and the user interface.
The LOMO effects are cool, but not the kind you would use on every photo in a batch. There’s a built-in color filter which makes it easy to apply different styles and looks to the same photo.
Background can be blurred to add an effect and there are controls for contrast, vignetting, fisheye effect, filter and styles.
For the classic film look, CameraEffect gives you a one-click access to a variety of film profiles, color modes and grain. Each one is easily accessed through a convenient drop down menu.
The classic film look has more than 50 different film type presets so even a plain, boring photo can be turned into an artistic classic from a different era. The analog and film era.
Not bad for 99-cents.
