We love poker, photography, all things Apple, and among the latter, a growing collection of calculators, both Mac and iPhone. The latest to grace my iPhone is one that isn’t easily duplicated elsewhere. It’s a Calculator of Fractions.
To be honest about the limitations to my geekiness, I can handle decimals with no trouble, and fractions with no trouble, but converting fractions to decimal places requires a calculator (hence the collection).
For anyone who loves fractions, works in fractions, or collects digital calculators, Calculator of Fractions needs no introduction. Just get it already. What it does is simple. Fractions. It combines improper and proper fractions, mixed numbers and decimals in a single calculator operation.
The way it works is logical, doing multiplications and divisions first, then additions and subtractions. Calculator results that are larger than 1 will be displayed as a mixed number, improper fraction and decimal number.
Take a look.
Is that cool, or what?
Well, just as cool and totally free is Fraction Calculator Plus Free. The name is goofy, but the description is accurate and the price is right.
Self explanatory, right?
Take a look.
As easy as these calculators are to use, my teacher wife would prefer that every student learn how to do their multiplication tables and fractions before using a calculator to do the same thing. Somehow or another actually understanding how math works is worth as much as the right answer.
