No one ever said I didn’t have the capacity to be a day late and a dollar short. So, right after the biggest gift giving holiday of the year, I nearby announce the perfect gift giving idea for the geek, teacher, student, scientist, and math wizard who owns a Mac.
What could be more useful to a math-loving Mac user than a one-click, Menubar drop down app which provides computer-aided algebra computations? Wait! You can think of better things to do with your Mac? Maybe so, but there are some gifted Mac users who want this inexpensive app as a gift.
Algebraic. Expressions. Menubar.
Few of my Mac apps have intrigued me more than ExpressionsinBar which brings out the geek in me. Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus. The very thought of the math books I carried around back in the day brings my eyes to tears, a lump to my throat, a pain in my back and other parts of my anatomy, which reminds me of the backbreaking backpack that carried them all.
ExpressionsinBar is a Menubar app for math students, teachers, engineers, scientists, and any Mac-loving geek who needs a new way to entertain oneself.
For less than $3, your Mac math wizard-cum-scientist gets a pop down window to input algebraic expressions which can be dropped into reports, homework assignments, or made ready to massage the math genes in a young brain.
ExpressionsinBar features constants, integers, floating numbers, sequences, vectors, strings, matrices, standard operators, real functions polynomials, probabilities, transformations, and much more.
Think of this useful and affordable app as little brother to the highly acclaimed Expressions app for the Mac.
ExpressionsinBar is a simplified and very-handy “stripped-down” version of Expressions to be used in the menu bar. It retains several of the features found in Expressions. In particular, all CAS functionalities are available.
A mathematical expression entered in the popup window is immediately computed and the result is displayed in an associated subview window. With the drag-and-drop feature, results are easily copied into text editors such as Pages or Microsoft Word, or presentation programs such as Keynote or Microsoft PowerPoint.
If numbers are your game, ExpressionsinBar is the name. Alright, I’ll stick with math and avoid poetry wherever possible.
But just look what you can do with a single click and a little knowledge in advanced mathematics.
ExpressionsinBar is a Mac App Store app, and it’s priced perfectly as a belated holiday gift or an inexpensive gift for any Mac user who needs a way to crunch numbers for school, work, research, or just for fun. And if it finds a home on enough Macs it might just help the U.S. create a new generation of math geniuses.
Or, not. But not bad for the money.
