The only scientific research for my assertion is the few billion smartphones with cameras than infect the planet these days. All those cameras should put an end to anyone who believes in Bigfoot or little green creatures from Mars. Where are the photos? Where are the movies? All those photos have also bred a bucket full of collage and montage apps for the Mac. Here’s the best one.
Capture Kodak In The Collage
Remember film? If you don’t then it’s not likely you remember all those Kodak Moments on TV when the world’s largest film manufacturer highlighted the warmth and friendliness of photos (from film, of course).
Kodak Moments still exist and now there’s a My Kodak Moments app for your iPhone which combines the ease-of-use of sharing photos with an option to get them printed so you can share atoms instead of bits.
The app is of nominal value and what you can’t do with Kodak is exactly what Posterino does on a Mac. Collages. Posters. Calendars. Postcards. Photo frames. Contact sheets. All with mix and match templates, backgrounds, frames, and even captions, that help to create a better place for your digital photos to live.
At one end of the scale Posterino is a full-on Mac social citizen with options to share photos on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, et al. At the other end of the scale, Posterino can import photos from Photos, iPhoto, Aperture, Adobe Lightroom, or anywhere on your Mac (including .JPGs, .PNGs, or .TIFFs).
Posterino starts with whatever photos you want to use from your Mac, then lets you select and customize a collage or montage design, with control over the number of photos, the size and color of borders, photo placement and composition, with plenty of ways to start by using the built-in themes, effects, and controls.
Images within a collage are easily changed, by style and number, where alignment changes automatically. Add captions wherever you choose, and crop any photo within any frame. Choose frame stroke, color, shadow, etc. from the tools inspector. Every template in Posterino can be customized and saved for use later.
Posterino is more of a professional level collage and montage maker for the Mac, though there are competitors with less features and lower price tag. This is the one Carol and I go to when we need a sassy and pro looking collage for family or friends back home. Posterino a few years ago was a bit glitchy at times but has improved steadily through the years and became our reliable, go-to app for photos.
