Macs, iPhones, and iPad share many apps and utilities. Safari, Mail, Reminders, Notes, Contacts, and Calendar are a few. What’s missing on the Mac is a utility I use often on my iPhone and iPad.
iOS devices have a built-in app called Clock. That clock is pretty cool because not only does it keep time in multiple locations and time zones, it also works as an alarm system, and a timer and stopwatch. The Mac doesn’t have an equivalent from Apple.
Time Yourself
Anyone with a busy schedule knows the advantages of having an alarm system. Calendar events get used by many of Apple’s customers because it’s a good way to plan ahead, and receive proper notifications when an event is due.
A timer and stopwatch is somewhat different, but equally handy if you’re overloaded with projects and schedule items. Enter +Timer, a timer and stopwatch for the Mac’s Dock.
Preferences are about as straightforward and self explanatory as you want. The timer can be set to hours, minutes, and seconds. Select a specific sound when the timer ends. Toggle between timer and stopwatch.
Easy peasy, right?
Timers and stopwatches tend to look much the same and border on boring. +Timer has seven different designs to mix it up. For a few dollars you get both timer and stopwatch modes, simple click-on-icon to start the timing, eight custom sound alert options, and it can even startup when your Mac does.
+Timer works with Mac power users, too, thanks to custom keyboard combo hotkeys. To invoke a timer, simply click the Dock icon.
Timers like +Timer go a long way toward helping Mac users become a bit more productive with little effort and less money, and this one fits perfectly into the Mac360 mantra dating back to a few years after the turn of the century.
Our objective then is what it is now. We highlight Mac apps and utilities that we use ourselves, or would recommend to family, friends, neighbors, or co-workers– knowing that there’s a measure of customer support usually required.
