Whenever I run into a Mac app, utility, or game that I think I would like to use, I pause and the ask myself a simple question: ‘Is a version available for iPhone and iPad?‘ That’s important these days.
That question often is followed up with another: ‘Will the apps sync up between devices?‘ In other words, I like to have similar functionality synchronized between all my Apple products; Mac, iPhone, iPad, as well as Watch (where it works). Here’s one that’s affordable and does what you want because it’s nice (in more ways than one).
Nice As Rice
Enter Nice Clipboard, a Mac clipboard manager that’s simple, elegant, useful, and affordable. What’s a Mac clipboard manager app and why should you care? The Mac has a clipboard which works much like it always has going back to the last century. Command-X to cut, Command-C to copy, and whatever you’ve cut or copied is stored on the clipboard so you can paste it into a document.
That’s an age old Mac function, but Apple limits the clipboard to a single item at a time. Copy or cut and whatever you copied or cut a few minutes ago is gone forever. A clipboard manager app simply saves all those items in a library. Nice Clipboard lives in the Mac’s Menubar but there’s also a version for the iPhone or iPad as an app that also runs in the background and keeps the entire clip library synchronized via iCloud.
Nice Clipboard on the Mac resides in the background, constantly monitoring what you copy or cut to the Mac’s clipboard, then copies it to the library, and then synchronizes what you copied to iPhone or iPad using iCloud.
This is one of those nifty utilities that, once you set it up, just works. Whatever you copy or cut on your Mac will show up on your iPhone or iPad a few minutes later.
How does the iPhone or iPad version work? Much the same way.
Both macOS Sierra iOS 10 versions allow you to copy and save items in the library, set favorites to be used again and again. That makes your Mac, iPhone, and iPad usage more efficient and productive because it’s easier to paste something into a document that’s already been saved, and much easier to share a copied item with other devices thanks to iCloud sync.
Nice Clipboard is one of the few multi-platform utilities which is priced the same for Mac as for iOS devices. I’ve tried a few other clipboard manager apps you may like. Copy’em Paste runs on the Mac, and Copied runs everywhere; macOS and iOS.
