Not only do we have to sift through spam and cc email, but we have to respond to messages, and at times even write email from scratch. Oh, the humanity! This week I cam across a rather cleverly designed utility which makes crafting and responding to email much easier.
Blocks Of Text
Think of how much easier it would be to write or respond to a message if you had the responses already written out ahead of time as little blocks of text that you could just drop into a message.
In essence, that’s what Text Blocks does. Think snippets but on performance enhancing OTC drugs. TextBlocks may be the most unusual email add-on ever, but it’s also a way to make email better and it works on Mac, iPhone, and iPad.
See those little highlighted items? You determine ahead of time what goes into each one. Think snippets that get used regularly when replying or creating an email message.
You won’t even have to remember a bunch of arcane abbreviations. Each text block in Text Blocks can be dropped into a message with ease, and the app is smart enough to know your Contacts and responds appropriately to First Name, Last Name, and Email.
And, yes, Text Blocks works with Apple’s Mail app. This is not an automatic expansion of specific phrases from abbreviations because it’s based upon search, contacts, content, and context.
Wait. There’s more.
Text Blocks isn’t just about text snippets because it helps you keep track of customers, their contact details, specific requests from each, as well as response– from bug reports to notes to ideas. And you can set up a reminder to yourself to follow up with a message you’ve already replied to.
The Mac app is free to try and there is an in-app purchase based upon the number of text blocks you need. The iPhone and iPad app is free. Text Blocks is different but comes with a useful set of functions that those of us with too much email to answer in too little time need now more than ever.
