Some of us at Mac360 lament the fact Apple does not have a Clock app– like the one for iPhone and iPad– for the Mac. Sure, you can tell time from the little lump in the Menubar, but that’s not Clock.
Apple’s own Clock app for iOS comes with a multi-clock World clock, an Alarm, a Bedtime alarm, a Stopwatch, and a Timer. All for free. The Mac gets a clumsy clock hidden away in the Menubar. Enter OnTime Pro, a beautiful and functional Mac clock.
Tick. Tock. Ding.
OnTime isn’t Clock, but it looks better and it displays all the basics. It’s a clock, an alarm, a world clock, and a break timer. What sets the app apart from many Mac clocks and alarms is that sweet combo of looks and functionality.
First, the looks.
OnTime is packed with customization options, too. This is just for the clock.
- Switch between analog, digital, fantasy, hybrid and bent clock
- Multiple analog hands to chose from
- Customize the background clock with
- Unlimited colors and unlimited gradients
- Personal pictures on the face
- Different animations for hands movement
- Live usage of CPU,RAM and Disk
OnTime also comes with a Break Time manager which lets you set and manage breaks, even force yourself to take a break. The World clock has unlimited clocks, plus sunrise and sunset, and a background that changes with day or night color schemes.
Other options include a way to set an alarm to sound off with sound or voice messages or a custom alarm sound. All things considered, OnTime is a worthy clock for Mac users who want more than the Menubar. There’s no try-before-you-buy option but the price tag is nominal and right on my threshold for throwaway money– except don’t throw the app away. Nicely done, priced about right, does more than Clock on iPhone and iPad, and much more than Apple gives to Mac users.
