There is another Do Not Disturb that works on my Mac that you should consider if your Mac can be viewed or accessed– home, office, school, travel– by anyone else. This DND companion works more in reverse of Apple’s DND.
The Do Not Disturb utility app for macOS is free and works in conjunction with Do Not Disturb Companion for iPhone. Simply put, if someone bothers your Mac while you’re not around, DND on the Mac notified DND Companion on your iPhone.
Bascially, DND on the Mac works like this. Install the utility and set it up to work with DND Companion on your iPhone. If someone attempts to use your Mac while you’re away then DND on the Mac alerts DND Companion on your iPhone. Instantly.
If someone at school, or the office, or even at home attempts to use your Mac– eight of 10 Macs are notebooks– then DND Companion alerts your iPhone.
Setup is straightforward. Install both apps. Use the DND Companion app and your iPhone’s camera to scan the code presented by DND on your Mac. That links the two. From then on, anytime your Mac is moved, opened, used, you’ll get a notice on the iPhone app.
DND on the Mac is free. DND Companion for iPhone is an in-app subscription but comes with a free trial period. If you travel frequently then you’ll appreciate the annual discount, but if you travel occasionally, you can pay by the month and that price tag is nominal for infrequent road warriors.
