Michael Dell was right. It’s time for Apple to close the doors and give whatever is left of its cash on hand to investors. The end is near. I read it on the internet. You know they can’t put it on the internet if it isn’t true.
No new smartphones in 2024? Why, that’s just barely five years away. Most of us keep our iPhones for three years or so, on average, so does than mean the end of the iPhone, too? Yep. Says who? Samsung, of course.
See The Future
The same guy who launched the ill-fated Samsung Galaxy Fold says the Fold hit the streets before it was ready but flexible displays are the future and will set Samsung on a path beyond smartphones.
Wearables. Oh, that explains why Apple has a new hardware category that touts more revenue. Wearables. Apple Watch, AirPods, Beats headphones, and coming sometime between now and 2024, Apple Glasses.
Samsung mobile honcho DJ Koh:
Smartphone design has hit a limit
I think we saw that with the Galaxy Fold that folded.
[The] previous 10 years, it was an era of the smartphone. From this year, maybe a new era is opening because of the emergence of the Internet of Things, 5G, AI, and all these technologies mingling together.
You would think someone who was in charge of such a big PR disaster would shut up for a few months, but instead has a prognostication for the future that features a date.
2024. Five years from now.
The new era is in front of us.
Literally. Seldom are new eras found in the past, right?
I’m think Apple Glasses but I suspect Apple will still have an iPhone in 2024. Oh, and Samsung won’t drop the Galaxy-whatever smartphone, either, even if Galaxy Fold folds again in a few years.
We must think rather than smartphones, we must think smart devices
Like folding displays?
What will people who do not want to wear glasses in 2024 use to check their email, text messages, or take photos and videos?
Smartphones may decline but new devices will emerge
The devil is in the details, huh, DJ?
Koh sees Samsung’s future in interconnected and multi-screen smart devices that help people carry out tasks seamlessly as they move between home, the car, and office.
Because I long to play Tetris on my Samsung refrigerator and browse the web on my Samsung washer-dryer. I’m sure you want to do the same.
A few things are absolutely sure about the future. First, it will get here. Second, it won’t be quite what we expect or want, and definitely won’t be what arrogant prognosticator hardware salesman say it will be.
