Boot Camp Assistant is a built-in Apple app that comes pre-installed on Intel-based Mac models. With its help, users can install the Windows 10 OS in a separate partition on their Macs. Booting from that partition allows the Mac to function exactly as a Windows PC and lets it run all compatible software.

It’s crucial to note that emulated games generally provide somewhat suboptimal performance compared to their native counterparts. CrossOver truly excels when utilized on relatively powerful Apple Silicon machines, especially those equipped with the M1 Pro or higher, ensuring a significantly smoother and more enjoyable gaming experience.
CrossOver and Apple’s Game Porting Toolkit:

Wizard with a Gun on Mac – Testing the Cloud Gaming Platforms
Determined to bring the world of Wizard with a Gun on Mac, we first turned our focus to the possibilities of cloud gaming platforms. Recognizing that the game isn’t natively supported on macOS, we were keen to explore how cloud gaming could bridge this gap. Our experiment involved testing Boosteroid and GeForce Now, and evaluating their ability to smoothly run the game on a Mac. This test not only aimed to assess the game’s performance and playability on non-native hardware, but also to explore the broader potentials and limitations of cloud gaming for Mac users enthralled by games typically restricted to other platforms.
Our experience with Boosteroid started with a pleasantly surprising setup which was quick and effortless. In less than ten minutes, we had an account up and running, ready to jump into the game. With our internet offering a comfortable speed of 50 Mbps, which is well above the minimal 15 Mbps requirements of Boosteroid, the gameplay unfolded seamlessly at 1080p and 60 FPS. We faced some minor glitches, but they were nothing too disturbing, and we enjoyed an hour-long gaming session without any major inetruptions.
Shifting the focus to GeForce Now, the experience didn’t vary much from the satisfying performance that Boosteroid offered, except for the fact that, generally, this platform requires a bit more from your internet, around 25 Mbps, to sustain the desired performance level. That was not a problem for us, but we did encounter sporadic lag spikes, which GeForce Now tactfully adjusted the resolution to ensure a stable frame rate.
With both platforms, our venture into the mystical world of Wizard with a Gun on Mac was nothing short of magical, but Boosteroid stole a bit of the limelight. It not only met our performance and usability expectations but also stood out with a more appealing pricing structure and a game library that resonated more closely with our preferences.
Wizard with a Gun for Mac – Exploring Non-Cloud Possibilities
Aside from its captivating gameplay, Wizard with a Gun has relatively modest system requirements, which set it apart in a gaming landscape often dominated by demanding titles. This provides a breath of fresh air, offering a more inclusive experience to a broader range of players with compatibility across various workaround methods. In our search for alternative local gaming solutions, we opted to explore the simplicity and user-friendliness of CrossOver, Parallels, and Boot Camp. Our testing ground was an M1 MacBook Air equipped with 8 gigs of memory and an Intel-based 2019 MacBook Pro.
Our exploration kicked off with CrossOver, where the setup took us about 15 minutes. Ready to dive into the game, we tinkered with CrossOver’s compatibility layers, enabling ESync and DXVK. The result? A gratifying performance free of crashes, errors, or graphical glitches which gave us the feeling of playing on a native gameplay on a Windows PC.
Performance-wise, our FPS effortlessly surpassed the 60 mark, but what truly impressed was the fluid gameplay experience after we fine-tuned the resolution on our Mac model for the optimal screen aspect ratio.
Our Experience Playing Wizard with a Gun for Mac via Parallels
A common concern with Parallels is that the performance may suffer because you have to share the resources of your Mac between two operating systems, which can lead to an unpleasant experience, especially with more demanding games. Despite this typical concern, the game performed remarkably well. Setting up Wizard with a Gun on a Parallels VM was straightforward, and to our delight, it ran smoothly, maintaining a stable frame rate of about 60 FPS that enhanced our gaming experience. This test revealed that for games like Wizard with a Gun, which aren’t overly demanding, Parallels can be an excellent choice for Mac users, offering ease of setup and enjoyable gameplay.
Our Wizard with a Gun MacBook experience with Boot Camp
Boot Camp, unlike Parallels adds Windows to a different part of your hard drive, where you can then download and run Wizard with a Gun on Mac. This software, however, only works on Macs with Intel chips, such as the 2019 MacBook Pro that we used for the test, and it needs some time and a lot of space to set it up.
Despite the lengthy setup process, we played the game without any problems but, the issue was that our Mac got very hot, and we were not able to enjoy the game for long due to this reason. Now, we should say that heating up is normal when you run video games on Intel Macs for prolonged periods of time but But, if you are a keen gamer like us, you can circumvent this issue by playing Wizard with a Gun, through cloud gaming, which doesn’t heat up your Mac.
